About the Gawu Prayer Box

A Gawu (also spelled Gau or Ghau) is a traditional Tibetan prayer box that has been worn for centuries by travelers, pilgrims, and Buddhist practitioners. Originally designed as a portable shrine, a Gawu was used to carry sacred objects such as miniature Buddha images, written prayers, relics, herbs, or personal keepsakes close to the heart.

More than a decorative pendant, the Gawu represents a lifelong connection to one's spiritual values and cultural heritage. Today, many people wear Gawu pendants as meaningful jewelry that encourages mindfulness, compassion, and a sense of inner peace while honoring the rich artistic traditions of Tibet.

About the Eight Auspicious Symbols

The Eight Auspicious Symbols (Ashtamangala) are among the most recognized motifs in Tibetan Buddhism. Together they represent wisdom, harmony, compassion, prosperity, and the path toward awakening. Their presence on the Gawu reflects centuries of Himalayan artistic tradition and makes each piece both meaningful and timeless.
